Lights Out

Last Friday we were preparing the kids for bed as Steve and I were to have a fun game night with friends. That was the plan anyway. Our plans changed moments after our company stepped foot through the door. The 75mph winds came up out of no where. The dark clouds opened their doors to flooding rains, and the storm was upon us. We all rotated windows and floors to check out the effects of such a storm from every angle. It was exciting and scary and magnificent all at once. As the trees seemed to bend in half and sweep the rain soaked grass with their leaves, the lightening flashed as if God hung  a strobe light directly about our house. We watched as chairs, toys, and branches got tossed about the lawn, and then with fireworks and a loud CRACK, our tree came down and the lights went out…
The storm didn't stay long. It was the destruction that stuck around.
We waited for the calm, then tucked the kiddos in bed. Steve went to survey the grounds as I lit candles. Our crazy fun game night didn't take place, but we enjoyed a candle lit evening of snacks and adult conversation with dear friends.
Below you will get a taste of our 119 hour adventure!
We tried to make the best of it. Here is a conversation between Owen and Luka, on day 5.

"At first I didn't like storms, but now I do." - Owen
    "Why?" - Luka
"Because we get to have a lot of fun days!" - Owen
"Yeah, Thank you God! Owen, do you know why God gave us that storm? Because he wanted us to have a lot of fun at our friends houses!" - Luka

I think we succeeded thanks in part to so many of you who offered, help (laundry / meals / warm showers, a/c), support, and prayer. Thank you, from ALL of us!
