The Beyblade Birthday Battle

He's turning seven and wanted to have a Beyblade Birthday party. Seven was my favorite year and I'm hoping the same for Owen, especially after the food issues he's struggled through this past year. We started things out right by allowing him to have his first 'friend' party. It was fun, action packed, and loud! I had a great time watching how he and his buddies interacted with one another. They got so excited just being together, let alone battling with "awesome" (I heard that word A LOT) toys. The plan was to start with a Beyblade battle downstairs, then do lunch, and more activities outside. We crammed a lot of excitement into a few hours! I feel like I should warn you, this blog post is picture heavy!

We sent out a few invites to his buddies and waited in anticipation for each response.

The kids love waking up to a party. I'm pretty sure they come by that naturally  : )

Home-made (gluten free) Beyblade cupcakes and decor

To make the Beyblade decor, just use silver colored paper dinner plates, and multi-colored cake plates for the smaller layer. I got mine at a party supply store, but I'm sure you could find them at Wal-mart or the Dollar Store too. I used my sons actual beyblades to decide where I wanted to make the cuts in the plates.

We set up a double elimination tournament and bracket downstairs. They practiced in Arena 2 and competed in Arena 1.

Actually, the boys didn't want to miss out on any battle so there wasn't a lot of action on Arena 2. We used this type of arena but there are much fancier ones available now.

Of course there had to be some rules… (and it was a good thing they were posted)I will put some Beyblade clipart at the bottom of this post for you to use in creating your party decor.

Emmett was not so sure he wanted to go down there at first. He had to check things out from a safe distance.

He warmed up, and Arena 2 did get some action ; )

Let it Rip!

A battle between best buddies.

The boys played very well together. They were encouraging, kind and even rooted for Emmett in his battle against one of the 'big' boys. But did I say loud?!

The epic battle between brothers…

Picture

Yeah, it was loud. And this is the Beyblade King! Yep, Little Brother won the competition!

Then there's the excitement of gift opening - - - so fun to see how the boys react together.

Owen got about 8 new Beyblades!!! And he's "not taking any of them back." Guess we’re gonna have to figure out some type of organization bin… (updated - a great carrying option)

GG, educating herself on Beyblades. (Each bey comes with a little collectors card).

We had a BEAUTIFUL April day (in Minnesota) to celebrate, so we ate our party lunch outside.

Emmett, sharing the last party favor bag with Grandma. After he realized he could not have two, he figured Grandma was the obvious choice! I'd have to agree. I couldn't have gotten through this day without her!

Picture

This little munchkin steered clear of the chaos for the most part. She preferred to stay upstairs with Grandpa, Grandma, and GG. Can't blame her ; )

The boys spent a little time flying the new glider while waiting for parents.

Came across this little treasure when things calmed down a bit. See, boys can be sweet : )

And then I found this little message hiding between the cars after the party. It was written with our broken bits of sidewalk chalk by one of the dads after drop-off : )  What a special way to end such an exciting day!

Here is some clipart that I used to create the invitations and signage. Hope this helps you throw an epic Beyblade Battle Birthday Party!
