Return to Grand Marais (part 4 am)

Can you smell that?! The warm cinnamon sugar? Yep, that's how I started every morning. Ah, the beauty of vacation... Good thing is, we worked most of if off as we hiked and climbed our way to the lighthouse this morning. It's a simple enough trek, but it's one that needs to be made every year. In years past we've appreciated watching the repeating sun kissed waves crash powerfully against the solid cement piers. But not this year. This year, the harbor was quite calm, cool and damp, often covered by a thick cloud of fog. You would think it'd kind of ruin the hike, the grand view, the awesomeness of what lies just feet from us, but it didn't. It was different. It was new. It was beautiful. I love how you can be in the same place over and over, or look at the same thing time after time, yet God makes it new. Behold!

I really want my children to remember that I was there too ;)  Want do you think? He didn't do too bad, did he!
