Return to Grand Marais (day 4 pm)
The weather has been a little different up here this year. Lots of fog. Not much sun. And cool temps. We even turned our fireplace on in the condo! Kind of neat treat :) Anyway, the chilly temps didn't keep up from enjoying our time. In fact, I tried something new, PADDLE BOARDING! Yep, I laid the kiddies down for naps and headed out on the water with the girls from the LaPatka camp. We actually did yoga on the boards, out over the frigid waters, and (spoiler alert) no one fell in - - - I know you wanted to scroll down to find the 'splash' pictures ;)
After the little ones woke up from their naps, we skipped some more rocks and climbed a few, while enjoying our sweet treats. Our last evening here is always a bit sad. The boys are SO tired because we let them stay up extra late so they can enjoy the campfires with friends and family. And no one wants to head back home to reality. We try and make the most out of every minute we're there, enjoy the sights and sounds, the smells, the wildlife, and our cozy little condo on the bay.
Every year there's some sort of event at the campsite. Everyone contributes. It's great. This year we pigged out on a s'moregasboard, get it?! Yep, it's a big s'more feast. Marshmallow, graham crackers, and anything else you can think of that would fit nicely in between. It was fun to watch everyone roast their creations. And all sorts of sweet, melty, goodness were created. It was delicious. Oh, and there may have been some snitching here there.... Uncle George ;)
Oh, and there were scary faces, and chipmunk trapping. It's great fun!
Taking notes for next year...
